States that printing at the last minute after not sleeping will have ‘n’ to the power of two, plus nine, plus nine… probability of fucking up.
We ripped it gentlemen. Now, FOCUS FIRE ON THE STAR DESTROYER!!!

The CTRL box, the CTRL probe… all held together by the CTRL tape!

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard. This particular example essentially sums up our intentions for CTRL in one postcard. Lovely.
After deliberating over our rigorous research methods we finally decided our brand would take a new direction. This has been expressed in the form of a t-shirt.

Just playing with a gloss yellow. We can photoshop it to look like the OPTIX Sunni Yellow. Its just nice to see the reflection of light on the gloss stock and that being juxtaposed to the rawness and texture of the boxboard. For the sake of getting some idea of show through, I cut out a line but in the case of our real probe the idea is that the letters C T R L would be die or laser cut out revealing the yellow stock underneath. I still don’t mind the look without gloss but just toying with some ideas. The elastic band works a treat in binding too.
The final piece of the puzzle that formed our research was the focus group that we held on Monday night, May the 18th. We were only able to get four out of the ten to make it in which almost saw us cancel the focus and try to reschedule, but it was decided to push on and we were all glad we did.
We invited our probe participants to join us for some beer and pizza and simply have an open discussion about the probes as well as our overall topic. The nature of the focus was intended from quite some time ago to be relaxed and more of a reflection that would hopefully spark conversation. It worked! The participants were more than happy to share their experiences with the probe but more so it was noted they were very interested in how others went or what others did for each task.
Once we had covered the probe we began describing what we (The Breakfast Club) were going to do with CTRL. This once again created discussion by all about positive and negative aspects that may arise in our outcome.
We came out of the focus feeling quite positive about the next few weeks, even though we were only able to gather a small number of participants on the night. It was so much more about quality within conversation and creating the right environment for everyone to deliberate.

As part of the focus group tonight, we plan on providing participants with a form of ‘artifact’ created from the information they provided us as part of our research. In this case, we chose to present the amount of time they spend connected to technology each day in a percentage format.
